Hello, My name is Mika. I have been coaching volleyball for 27 years, and I still love my job! I started as a high school coach and have been coaching at the college level for the last 20 years.
Over the years, I have been fortunate to learn from some great mentors and have invested a tremendous amount of time in learning how to build programs that do more than win on the court.
I am also passionate about helping coaches develop into successful, transformational coaches. Too often, coaches are left to learn things the hard way, and, as a result, many great coaches leave coaching way too soon. I want to change that!

“If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.” – Henry Ford
Long-term success in any endeavor requires a strong team culture.
As Michael Jordan famously pointed out, “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.” Talent can indeed help a team win in the short run, but it is nearly impossible to continue to consistently win without a strong team culture.
Fortunately, success principles are timeless and universal. So, by learning to apply these principles, anyone can create a culture of excellence! A strong team culture does not exist in a vacuum. It requires structure, strategy, and leadership in order to thrive.

Success leaves a paper trail. We call it a clipboard.
From the locker room to life lessons—our program hands you the clipboard and teaches you how to lead with purpose, precision, and passion.
Honored to have been a part of some incredible programs.

FAQs
What does building a “program of excellence” mean to you?
A program of excellence is one that is successful on and off the court/field. It is a program that equips leaders to lead in the moment but, more importantly, to lead wherever their journey takes them. It is built on core values, requires open communication and trust, and always has the expectation for success.
What are your core values?
My personal core values include integrity, work ethic, and choosing love and joy.
Our team’s core values are team first, relentlessness, discipline, loyalty, and classy.
What is your why?
Over the years, I have seen too many coaches with great potential to positively impact young lives get out of this profession, because they were left to learn everything the hard way. I want to be able to impact even more athletes by keeping transformational coaches in this profession!
What is your coaching style?
The short answer is always that it is about relationships. The reason I started coaching and the reason that I’m still coaching all these years later is that nothing creates the kind of bonds, bridges gaps, and grows people quite like team sports.
I believe in coming alongside our athletes and helping them be the best version of themselves. We do this by creating an environment built on high standards, permission to fail, and appreciation for them as people and players.
