Power of Mentorship

This is my daughter with my little nephew, and this picture is such a great reminder of the value of mentors in our lives. My two kids (both much older than my nephew) got to experience the joy of helping him learn how to ice skate (all while perfecting the skill themselves as one had skated once and the other had not skated prior). However, him leaning on them and holding tightly to their hand gave him the confidence to try even after falling and wanting to give up.

Life is often like this picture. We fall down and want to give up. However, if we are willing to reach out to a mentor and ask for their hand we can learn how to move forward and overcome the fall. Likewise, if we are willing to extend our hand to someone (even when we are not yet an expert), we often find more joy than the one who is receiving the help.

Who can you extend a hand to today? Where do you need to ask for help?
