The Joy of Investing in Others Always Outweighs the Risk

Coaching is one of those jobs that has really high highs and really low lows. If you are relationship driven like I am, the lows when one of your players refuses to buy in or seemingly intentionally does something hurtful are way worse than any low of losing a game.

In these moments, it is easy to think, “Is all of this worth it?” The answer is a resounding YES and is found in the call, visit, text, note, or email from a former or current player expressing their gratitude for the lessons they learned through your investment in them as well as seeing them thrive during and beyond their playing days. The joy that comes from seeing them succeed and thrive ALWAYS outweighs any lows and risk of getting hurt.

Do me a favor and comment below by tagging someone who has invested in you as a person (doesn’t have to be a coach) and that you appreciate. I promise it will mean more to them than you realize. You can also follow up with a call, text, or note!
