“Most people chasing their dreams don’t see the bigger picture, they just see the silhouette. Make the vision real!”~Joel Brown⠀

One of the hardest tasks for a leader is getting people to look beyond the work, sacrifice, and discipline of any given day to see the bigger vision. With a team, this means pushing a player past her perceived limits so she can enjoy celebrating a championship months later, asking her to give up her selfish desires in order to elevate the team as a whole, and ensuring that everyone puts in the day to day effort that will prevent them from giving up when the road gets bumpy.⠀

If we as leaders constantly point back to the bigger vision, it enables all of us to see it more clearly. When we run the extra sprint or ask just one more thing after we think we’ve hit our limit, all while reminding everyone of the end game situation that will require that physical and mental fortitude, we stretch our capacity to see ourselves in that vision and set the stage for refusing to give in during the tough moments.⠀

What other ways can we make the vision real?
